Meet Lisa Volkers, cofounder and CEO of PERIOD., the Dutch privacy first cycle app.
Lisa's career started in journalism and media. As former chief editor of LINDA.meiden, one of the largest platforms for young women in the Netherlands, she spent years listening to what women wanted from health information, and watching technology hand them something else. But last year, something shifted. She was 29 and realized she didn't understand her own body. She tried every big cycle app on the market and disliked all of them: aggressively pink, paywalled behind every useful screen, and quietly monetizing the most intimate data a person has. So she and her cofounder and life partner Diederick Trampe decided to build the opposite.
PERIOD. launced in March 2026, is now live in 19 languages on iOS and Android, number one in the Dutch health App Store, with tens of thousands of users worldwide. Fully bootstrapped. The basic functions stay free, always. There is a PERIOD. plus subscription for users who want more insights and who want to help support the free app. Alongside the consumer app, Lisa is building PERIOD. at work, an employer benefit that gives female employees full access to the platform, without the employer ever seeing personal data. Next up: UK, Belgium, France, Germany. Her mission is to build the European alternative to US owned femtech, and to work together with science and NGOs to advance women's health.
