Our favorite question, with a multilayered answer!
Women are NOT the only underrepresented group in tech. We take into account all forms of diversity and intersections on everything we do. The reason why we put gender first, is because it is the ONLY underrepresented group that is not a MINORITY in society. In numbers, we’re talking about the most people here. (If you’re wondering, around 6 million in Belgium, whereof 50.000 working in tech).
Technology shapes our future, our daily lives, our interactions with the world. It NEEDS to be built in an inclusive way if we don’t want to continue building a world made for only 1 type of person. The best way to do that is to build it WITH the people that will use it. Not a school teacher, restaurant owner, scientist, train driver, … can go without tech in their jobs. Not many social contacts exist anymore without a digital connection as well. This is no longer a ‘sector’ this is part of every industry now.
We value equal opportunity. Through human rights, through legislation, through local politics, we have equal opportunity on the agenda. On a global, local and individual scale we could say that we think opportunities should be distributed in a FAIR way, and that everyone, no matter where you come from, should have at least a chance to success.
We could easily talk for hours about this. Contact us if you want that!
