WORKSHOP · FOR TECH TEAMS & HR

Unconscious

Bias.

Everyone is biased. That's not the problem. The problem starts when bias remains unconscious and starts shaping who gets hired, heard, promoted, and trusted.

WHY THIS WORKSHOP

A bias workshop that doesn't lecture. It makes you feel it.

Most bias training sets people on the defensive. Our take: bias is actually a GOOD thing!

We start with experiential exercises that show participants their own biases in action, before any theory is on the table. Then we explain what just happened, why it happens, and how it shows up in code reviews, hiring decisions, performance reviews and AI systems.

It's playful, honest, and grounded in facts, including the work of several researchers and organizations. Participants leave with shared language, not shared blame.

What participants leave with.

Real shifts in awareness and language, not a slide deck. The kind of takeaways that show up in the next standup, the next hiring panel, the next code review.

01

Their own bias, seen

Through interactive exercises, participants experience similarity, conformity and confirmation bias in themselves, not in the abstract.

02

The vocabulary that matters

Similarity bias, performance bias, halo & horns, gender bias, and the difference between diversity, inclusion and equity.

03

The link to tech

How bias shapes algorithms, AI systems, hiring tools and product decisions. Why a tech team in particular cannot afford to ignore it.

04

A shared starting point

Teams leave with a common language to talk about inclusion at work, so the next conversation doesn't start from zero.

What teams say after.

“I’ve experienced bias trainings before, but this one really made me look at things differently. I feel like a left with more language and a better approach to talk about the topic with my team.”

— IT TEAM LEAD

“The training included lots of examples that made the theory very practical and applicable. The tailored slides about our recruitment process made it a starting point to take action after the workshop.”

— HR MANAGER

“An eye-opening workshop. I thought I was very conscious of my bias, but the session made me look at it in a whole different way.'“

— PRODUCT MANAGER & DEI LEAD

THE TRAINER

Rein Meirte.

With a background in innovation, technology, DEI and futures design, Rein founded Clusity, Belgium's largest community for women in tech. Working 6+ years in building inclusive spaces, she has seen bias play out in hiring rooms, code reviews, performance conversations and product decisions across the tech ecosystem.

Recognized as a Forbes 30 Under 30, Rein advises EU projects and universities on inclusive leadership, the future of work, and the structural changes needed to make tech more equitable.

Her approach to bias training is rooted in research and lived experience, not only theory. Technology shapes our future, and we shape technology, which means representation and inclusion are not optional; they are baked into the quality of what we build.

Frequently asked.

  • Both work. on-site is always our preferred method because we can play into group dynamics more. Though, this workshop works really well online, and all the exercises can be done fully remote.

  • This is an accessible workshop for mixed teams of any seniority. We give this most often to HR teams, tech team leads and recruiters; but adapted with appropriate use cases and tools for the target audience.

It works particularly well as an accessible introduction to diversity and inclusion for a whole team, or as a kickoff before deeper inclusive-leadership work.

  • Yes. We adapt examples and use cases to your role and industry, including tech parallels like how algorithms and our brain work in similar ways. For a deeper tailoring with case studies from your own team, ask us about our extended formats.

  • A 20-minute call to understand what you're trying to shift and whether this workshop is the right starting point.

No pitch or pressure; sometimes the right answer is a different workshop, or no workshop yet. We’ll explore what needs you have and what value we can add.

  • Three things. One: experiential first, theory second: participants feel the bias before they hear the word. Two: tech-specific examples and AI parallels, not generic HR slides. Three: delivered by someone who runs Belgium's largest women-in-tech community and sees these dynamics every week.
